sylvia got 800,000 for losing! and fedor got no win bonus…thats pretty shaddy in my opinion…..what sylvia had got for winning 1,600,000???? thats pretty stupid but im glad to see fighters get more money..I hope affliction has started a new trend in fighter pay outs!
WHOA!!!!!! is there anything else to be said about that
I have read elsewhere that Fedor had a signing bonus when he signed up for this fight that was over a cool million. I will say 800K for 36 seconds is impressive and depressing at the same time. If they can continue to pay these guys this kind of money without going deep in the hole, then more power to them. There isn’t one fighter that should complain about their paycheck unless Fedor didn’t get any other $, which we all know he did.
FINALLY! I’m glad to see that these elite fighters are getting what they deserve. I hope that Affliction didn’t blow everything on this and didn’t leave enough for another PPV.
FEDOR will dominate anyone!
Tim might not be too upset after looking at his paycheque(S)
$800k for Sylvia??? No wonder Andrei Arlovski didn’t re-sign with UFC. I wonder if Affliction is purposely paying this much to get more UFC fighters to not re-sign with Dana. Or to atleast get the UFC to pay their fighters better. Tito was at the fight, I bet Affliction can easily pay him $500k - $1 million to show up. Plus, if you fight at Affliction, apparently, they make each fighters’ very own Affliction shirt. I’d like to know how many PPV buys and how much money was generated, including all the close-circuit International dollars.
are u serious!?!??!?!
tim sylvia gets that much 4 fighting!!!!
he is the most boring fighter ever!!!!
he is not even good!! hahah
fedor should have got that 800k…
not sylvia…
and why hasnt arlovski fought in the ufc???!??!
is he still under contract!!??!?!!
anyways…dana does need to pay his fighters a little more…
lets see fedor in the ufc…
or atleast kimbo!!!
hahhaa
match em up with lesnar..
i bet brock will beat kimbo down..
but i would also want to see him get crushed by fedor!!
What LOGICAL reason is there for Fedor not getting a win bonus?
Gary Goodridge is not worth $25,000. No way no how! Maybe….$6,000 to show $6,000 more to win. You’re old.
Buentello getting $80,000?!? Ha….Not as bad as Barry Zito’s contract with the Giants…..but HAHAHAHA…C’mon Affliction…Buentello should have got $25,000 to show and $25,000 to win. I’m a fan too.
Belfort and Martin should have both got $20-$30 thousand less.
Whithead got $50,000?!? Ha….Between that and Tim Sylvia’s ridiculous $800,000 payday, Barry Zito’s contract doesn’t look like the worst in sports anymore.
Rothwell was worth no more than $20,000 to show and $20,000 more to win. He was however, worth $250,000 to take a great ass whoopin.
damn i guess they pay sylvia that much to lose impressivly but if thats true that they make an affliction shirt for u for fighting wit them i want an AA one it would either b sick or look alot like the xtreme couture rampage one and as for them payin there fighters i call shenanigins cuz theres still people makin under 10 grand a fight
Hominick — $10,000 he only made 10 cuz of the bonus
Young — $7,000
Ambrose — $5,000
Lamaza — $3,000*
Levens — $6,000*
i put an asterisk next to them cuz i read they got there base pay + a bonus and im not sure if that number is just there base pay or wat but come on to give those guys atleast 10 gs would cost 19 grand u couldnt shell that out u couldnt take a hundred grand off of big duffies pay and give everyone on the card atleast 15000-20000 thats when ill say there changin the trend in fighter paydays
I really dont think that coulture and beat fedor its too late in his career shoot its to late in his life he is approaching half a century. arlovski i think would give him a run for his money but he is pretty dominate right now
While I don’t believe that anyone, ANYONE, can hang with Fedor right now, I do think you’re right Joel B about the AA fight. Arlovski is the only logical choice to fight Fedor next. Rothwell and Sylvia will be a snoozefest, but that will probably be the 2 main events on the next affliction show.
Lindland gets $300,000 thats ridiculous, the worst fight on the card. i wouldnt even give him 10k
hahah ill take 800k to get my ass kicked for 36 seconds..hell you can choke me til i pass out. anyone who says hes a top 5 heavyweight its out of there minds he has no natural abilities he just uses his size affectively because hes usually much bigger than his opponents..Tim take your 800k and the rest of that money youve made and havent deserved and go retire and save us the pain of ever having to watch you fight again.
ok you guys are silly.. sylvia is lame and boring.. so is arlovski. he is a boxer basically and thats why the ufc doesn’t want him. tito.. are you kidding me.. the guy hasn’t beat anyone but an over the hill shamrock since 2006.. he is done.. if affliction keeps paying these salaries they will be out of business quick..
good for the fighters..really, they deserve to be paid well.. but $800k for a 36 seconds, that guy sucks.. fedor.. he deserves his pay at least.
Ya I have to say some people on this card is being paid way to much and others are stuck with pocket change like everyone before me said Sylvia “800k” WOW someone call the cops cause Sylvia is Robbing Affliction , and even for other fighters not getting at least 10k a fight is sickening… say fighters fights 6-7 times a year and say they are being paid 10k each fight is only 60k-70k each year + you say a fighter is injuried at least once a year Hospital cost and a missed fight say -11k out that years salary so 49k-59k then sponsors if your on the under card then thats only like 500-1k a year .. I just told you what a average fighter would make at 10k each fight if they had 6-7 fights a year which most don’t have that many fights average of 4-6 and a average pay from anywhere from 2k-7k at that rate your max and min pay out is 8k-42k thats your average salary a year in the fight game kind of sad really
FEDOR MADE OVER A MILLION EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for Affliction…….i think its great to see them paying the fighters better than the UFC. All those that say they won’t be abole to keep up this pace….Affliction made over $100million in clothing sales last year…..they can manage! Not to mention the richest man in New York is behind them.
I think with Fedor, Sylvia, Barnett, Arlovski, Couture & Tito…Affliction will grow into something HUGE! Definately something you can compare to UFC. They just need to call up the same production team as Dream and there sorted!
the only reason Sylvia and the other Militech fighters like Rothwell got paid so much is because Monty Cox is their manager and an owner of M-1 who put the show together for Affliction. no way Tim is worth that much.
That’s some serious cash, you would think a few heads may be turned ??
i heard about randy couture wanting to start a fighters union. so everyone gets compensated fairly. maybe affliction and its partners agree with that and are trying to set a standard?
you get i believe 2500 maybe less for your first ufc fight. now if your not on pay perview its your first fight i can see your contract not paying you like… tim was payed but without somesort of a union these guys could get in the cage, get very injured, be unable to train and fight for a while or worse.. not be able to work, losing your job for not being able to work for unwork-related reasons. cant pay bills feed kids.. imagine how many people that has happened to because of the hazards involved. noone deserves to lose everything because they had a setback following there dream
this is definitely an attack by affliction on the ufc. how many UFC fighters are gonna look at this and think “hmmm, if i can get $800k for losing a 36-secod fight, maybe i’m in the wrong organization.” trouble could be brewing for dana.
$800k Vs 4 years of longevity….Bad move…Tim=Zuluzinho now in average fans eyes…
i just choked on my morning coffee when i say sylvia’s pay stub.
what a plug.
Wow Kouch you’d complain about anything. Goodridge got the money Alexsander would have got I’m sure. Remember he was a replacement. I’m just glad to see fighters getting what they deserve finally. The most dangerous sport in the world deserves ‘hazard pay’ in my opinion and Affliction gave it in spades! Nice job Affliction. Keep it up!
It was worth $800,000 to Sylvia to prove Fedor is the best in the world and that Affliction can put fights together with him. WELL WORTH IT assuming they didn’t break their bank.
Eric, get us some numbers on the PPV if you can.
800,000 IS RIDICULOUS… I WONDER IF THEY PAID HIM TO THROW THE FIGHT TO GET MORE VIEWERS TO WATCH FEDOR… THAT FIGHT KINDA LOOKED LIKE IT WAS THROWN TO MAKE FEDOR LOOK THAT GOOD.
If i was Fedor i would be pissed. Sylvia got 500,000 more to lose the fight. He was the underdog right and Fedor is the one of the main reasons people watched this ppv why the hell would he get paid more? I do like the rest of the payouts though and i hope this puts pressure on Dana White to start paying his fighters what they deserve before they all walk out.
Sorry for the dumb question here, but is Sylvia done with the UFC completely? I don’t remember reading anything about it.
Also, $800k for that performance is a joke. The guy is a muppet. Anyone that wears his friggin UFC belt to the goddamn grocery store should be smacked in the face with a trout.
Everyone remember one thing about the UFC. The pay is, I agree really low. But these are contracts that these fighters sign well before they ever step foot in the octogon. They agree to these low numbers. Affliction is hoping to attract more “big name” fighters with these numbers, but lets hope they didnt spend all there money on the fighters salaries and now they don’t have enough to put on another event.
fiveson:
Yes his contract is up with UFC and he has no ties with them anymore for now.
affliction cares more about the clothing line than the actual fights. this show was one big advertisement for a clothing company. and… think what you want, but trump is not even in the top twenty richest people in new york! it is not how things are… it is how they are perceived to be!
If anyone actually believes Fedor only got $300K you’re kidding yourselves. It’s been published on this site that he was looking for a $2Mil deal, and likely got it and also gets $300K per fight, and possibly a piece of the PPV revenue.
Sylvia was a flat rate one fight contract and no win bonus, no PPV.
Who else other than Sylvia would have generated interest against Fedor? Can you name a recognized fighter not under contract with a history of a belt and big named opponents? They got Sylvia to sell a legit fight against Fedor, as his rep was soft. It also was surely a measure of satisfaction to have former a UFC champ get mashed after Dana’s assessment of Fedor.
$3,300,000 + $2,000,000 in venue/production costs = $5,300,000. Average ticket price: $300. $5.3 mil divided by $300 = 17,650 in-venue spectators to cover the event.
Rough calculations, but the message is that the event revenue typically cover the event and PPV rev is gravy. Compare that to UFC and you can see the enormous gap between the fighter salaries (product costs) and profit.
I am sure Dana will be fielding a lot of questions about fighter salaries in the coming days, about the significant difference. But again, fighters gravitate to the most well known organization for exposure, which leads to sponsorship money, endorsement deals, which right now is the UFC. Until Affliction, or your local backyard octogon can get a few shows under there belt, and build some capital, UFC will keep doing what they are doing and reaping all the rewards and having fighters fight for pennies on the dollar!!
The Affliction ppv was great, laughed at sylvia cheered for arlovski.
That said they need some work on production and the entertainment horible. Megadeath? what the hell!
As for Dana White and the UFC, The UFC is a great company that was well put together and puts on a great show most of the time with an amazing roster and will be very tough to dethrone.
Then you have Dana White a retard with power between making the bulk of his fighters beat the crap out of each other for peanuts, then having childish fits and getting rid of the fighters who don’t shine his helmet on command including the superstars with Dana at the reigns Affliction will sign more great fighters yearly hell even monthly if they keep up the payroll and give fair shots at being a contender.
UFC roster a plus
Dana White a negative
equals great chance of a Affliction roster in near future!
It’s easy to pay 20 guys this kind of money when they are the only 20 guys you have in your promotion. Affliction blew their load on this one, I don’t expect these salaries to remain high if their roster develops to 100+ fighters. My understanding with Sylvia is that he has a management gruop representing him which allows him to do fights in a number of promotions. The big payout is because he is signing single fight deals. I don’t think he’ll have the same bargaining power for his next fight.
Good point WM. If they do have a chance to sign more “decent” fighters, they could potentially have more fights per year, giving way to more revenue, and still be able to pay the fighters a decent salary. This could make or break Affliction because these fighters now, and the ones looking in, will try to expect more because of what this card payed. Too keep up with this bankroll they better start selling a lot more tshirts. lol
Trump may not be in the top 20 richest people in NY, but that doesnt mean he doesnt have hundreds of millions of $$$$. Dnt forget about the casinos in NJ he has. Tim definatly, by far got paid waaaaaaaaay to much. Arlovski had a great fight, the flying knee he threw was cool.
Affliction is a clothing company they can hide money very easy sponsoring fighters without having them pay US taxes. Fedor without question got a signing bonus plus a ppv bonus that fighters like Chuck get in UFC. The 300k is that low for the simple fact that fedor wanted it that low to avoid taxes. As I was watching the fight I was praying that the fighers were gonna get paid better wages then UFC. Everyone knows the fighters check online to see salaries and soon the wave of fighters leaving UFC will happen as long as they didn’t sign long term contracts. And that company that went from 2 million when it started to 2 billion now will have to start paying there fighters what they derserve. UFC out sold Boxing in PPV sales last year and fighters make 20 million a fight in boxing…think about it!
Randy got just under $1Million in ppv bonuses plus 250k base salary when he faught Tim so Fedor got the same atleast im sure and when Randy fights Fedor look for that number to double to shove in Dana’s face, Randy is a very smart man and I is putting in his 2 cents without even fighting yet… he knows what it will take to get the fighters.
$22,222 a second.
As for James’ comment: “UFC out sold Boxing in PPV sales last year and fighters make 20 million a fight in boxing…think about it!”
Ok so they outsld boxing throughout 1 year. That doesn’t make them able to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on fighters. It will take a few years at the same pace to do that. Do I believe they can pay fighters more if they had to? Sure. But they can’t keep up with boxing yet. If you make $20 million in a year, it can’t just go straight to the fighters if you want to make the company grow.
