  • mike, troy ny says:

brandon vera won $200,000?…good for him…but irvin could have recieved a lil more then $20,000 for fighting in the main event and against the top pound for pound fighter in the world

  • seemore says:

wow…once again the pay system seems somewhat questionable…irvin, a tried and tested fighter, paid 20 G’s for fighting the best…and reese andy gets 15 G’s??!! reese who???? thats messed up, any way you look at it…

  • Kris Karkoski says:

mike – In all liklihood Irvin did take home more than $20,000 from the UFC alone, not to mention the money he makes from sponsorship.

These are strictly the amounts they are required to report and do not include undisclosed bonuses a lot of fighters receive.

  • The Rob says:

why does brandon vera make $100,000 more than the baddest man on the planet/middleweight champion since 2006? They were both making their debut at LHW and the Vera Fight DID put me to sleep.

  • Kris Karkoski says:

The Rob – Vera didn’t make more than Silva, they both made $200,000. The bonuses are already included in the main figures but I modified to post to make it a bit clearer.

  • Sean says:

I don’t always agree with the salaries but to answer a few of you guy’s questions. The salaries aren’t on a per fight basis.. So it doesn’t matter if you are main event or undercard. When they sign a contract it is for a per fight amount. Some sign for a straight amount and some sign a show and win contract and this is all for a set number of fights. Its not like boxing where you negotiate a salary for each fight.

  • b says:

i think anderson only took $200k because he knew if would be a short night of work.. haha.. sorry.. but brandon, he should give half back.. how boring was that fight.. and why does CB make so much when he lost back to back fights? he made as much as irvin

  • Ryan in NY says:

Like Kris said… the salaries are negotiated contract rights. The Irvin contract could be old and I’m sure the Silva beating wasn’t considered when negotiating it. Or maybe he needs a new agent.

  • JAI says:

The over paid Vera for that fight man. They didn’t pay Irvin enough. I mean he accepted a fight against the best fighter in the world man.

  • The Rob says:

The Couture vs Fedor fight is sure to be the biggest single fight payout in MMA history… Did Vera win a season of Ultimate Fighter? How is his fight contract so high?

  • 2girls2cups says:

i’m betting that vera negotiated pretty well when he came back to the ufc cuz he was out for a while but everyone wanted him back. then he came back and now he’s “boring,” but they still gotta pay what they agreed to. the only thing i think is odd about these salaries is that it said a. silva didn’t get a win bonus which is odd. i could see if he didn’t get a ko of the night bonus but i thought wins automatically double your pay? i hope this doesn’t screw irvin over cuz he got whooped like that. considering the fact that he stepped up on short notice to give the ufc an event against silva, he should be repaid in the form of a better contract when he re-negotiates. my fear is that it won’t happen though. i dunno if anyone listens to adam carrolla in the mornings, but frank shamrock was on there and someone asked why he and others had left the ufc. sounds like the ufc considers themselves to be the star as opposed to looking at the fighters as the main attraction. makes me look back at alot of people like irvin who step in to give them a good product but don’t get that favor returned.

  • rutdog says:

Irvin made over $50K from Warrior Wear alone, so I really don’t fell that bad for the guy. 61 seconds and he earned at least $70K. That’s my almost my annual salary in a minute.

  • JOHNBOY says:

people need to get off vera’s back, the guy gassed out due to the weight loss, which he is not used to cuttin. as for the 200 grand he got yeah im jelous too but im not guna trash the guy for doin good business,

  • Wild Wild West says:

The salary issue is a function of having or not having a good agent, among other reasons. Brandon Vera is(was) more “marketable” than other fighters due to his earlier wins over some good fighers and therefore had a stronger negotiating position than the other non-champion fighters.

Accepting lower purses is sometimes a take-or leave-it proposition and don’t forget about the “instant fame” factor – just at the last fight of that night.

Notwithstanding, Urijah Faber made less than a $50K (purse) againt Jens – that’s the shame!

  • b says:

still don’t think i would take 70k to let silva punch me in the face. would probably kill me..

  • joel b says:

did they announce fight of the night and ko of the night and sub of the night????

  • The Gunslinger says:

    joel b,

ya ko of the night was rory markham and franca and edgar won fight of the night and cd dollaway won submission of the night

  • Tspence says:

peruvian necktie defenitely deserves sub of the night

  • The Rob says:

agreed. Cool move. Never seen it before. Surprised he pulled it off in a real fight. Awesome submission.

  • Dannyboy says:

Again this proves Dana’s negotiations team is top notch. Fighter salaries in the UFC are always iffy at best.

  • Larry says:

ANyone have a look at the Affliction Salaries? Man that’s incredible…Sylvia took home 800,000 for a 36 second loss, more than from UFC in his whole career I would guess!!!

    That’s the Donald for ya!

  • Ryan-S says:

yeah, not bad money eh? Arlovski had £750,000 aswell to be just a fractionunder tim, big money.
