Wow, Fedor showed the world who the real champ is. They gotta make that Couture fight happen. That was an ass beating he put on Silvia, Tim didn’t know what hit him. The Affliction event was a total success! I think the UFC has to take notice because the UFC event wasn’t as good as the Affliction event. Fedor rocked it. Anyone who didn’t buy the event was foolish because it was the shiznit…

It was a pretty impressive debut for affliction beside the fact that the ring sucks, the announcers are horrible, the sound, mics, and camera work needs to improve.
Overall the fights were pretty good. Barnett was impressive, glad to see Babalu and Arlovski get wins. It’s pretty funny how both the UFC and Affliction had main event laughers. I was litterally LMFAO!

The affliction event was probably better than the UFC’s but you have to remember 1. Its a ultimate fight night. 2. They put this thing together in like a month…..and does anyone know what other fighters they have?

amazing fedor kills tim omg! that was great totaly worth $49 the last three fights where great, slow off the start did anyone else have sound problems??? during that ppv first no base then Spanish and bad mic’s but worth it for the fights three decision’s, 3 submission and KO’s good first ppv i only hope that they can redo this in the future… but not a bad night! now to watch ufc fightnight to see what else happened, man how cool is it to have 2 shows in one night does not get any better then this for fans of mma

I ended up watching the Affliction event. Not paying….just watching. Overall it was decent. Barnett looked boring until he KO-d Rizzo with a beautiful left. Dewees and Whitehead both looked like sh!t and it is obvious why they are not in the UFC. Fedor is my hero for the next three days. He basically copied Randy’s strategy and beat Sylvia the same way….just by submission 4 rds faster. Babalu has no excuse for not finishing Whitehead. Whitehead was beyond winded and gassed out. He kept dropping his hands and the few strikes he threw late in the fight were love taps that caused no damage. Being in the clinch and on the ground didn’t favor Whitehead much more than standing. MegaDeth was as good as the last time I saw them….thing is, I just wanted to watch fights. Affliction was definitely better than I expected but nothing special either. Mostly older fighters past their prime who draw fans because of their “BIG” names. Big John, and other commentating friends really need to stop the Affliction hype. The cage/ring comparisons and UFC references were a little annoying after a while. Big John obviously has an issue with the UFC. At this point Big John is just a Big Cry Baby with sand in his vagine. Bad career move on his part opening his mouth. Arlovski’s future in boxing looks promising to me. His stand up was very good tonight. I’d give Affliction a “C” taking points away for MegaDeth, the ridiculous amount of celebrities paid to be in attendance, the commentating crew and some bad officiating.
Oh yeah……1 more thing. Affliction did not live up to all the hype of being the best MMA card ever.
well i may hafe to agree with KOuch Affliction i think is 2nd in best hw car next to Prides 2004 HW GP at the time that was an amazing card! but this was still very good Arlovski’s fight was great and he look like when he was HW chap of ufc it good to see him murder his opponent like the old days Fador well now you see what the rest of the world saw for the last 8 years! it was fast and professional that what FEDOR IS the best fighter in the world till PROVEN OTHER WISE!

hope that affliction will be well managed. they have great fighters. now they have to make sure they run their evnts well, not like a freak show to get some respect.
SHAME ON UFC 4 NOT GETTING FEDOR.
It was a lot of fun to watch something new. I feel as though the UFC (while still the best promotion in MMA) has been a little watered down lately. Over exposure is going to kill it, just like Texas Hold ‘Em Poker on every freaking channel on TV.
I think the UFC needs to limit its PPVs to 4 a year not 1 a month. They also need to convince Fedor that fighting in the cage is just as good as fighting in a huge ass ring.
Affliction obviously went out and hired all those people that UFC fired when they acquired PRIDE.
I think that tonight will be a wake-up call for UFC and they will realize they need to do more to keep their product at the top of the pyramid.
P.S. watch the Silva fight from UFC’s card tonight and I think a valid argument can be made that Irvin gave a slight nod right before he threw the kick that sealed his fate.

When they stood up Arlovski/Rothwell with 30 seconds remaining or so in the second round, the pitbull came to life. He kicked the holy hell out of Big Ben. That knee to the face was epic. I give Rothwell credit, he took a harsh beating and kept on his feet. That third round KO was just Arlovski dominating. He’s going to kill in Boxing. However i think he should just stay in MMA cause next to Anderson Silva, this guy is easily my favourite fighter. It’s probably the badass beard and fangs mouthgard though…
Thank you Mr Emelianenko for proving me right, you are without doubt the best p4p fighter in the world. Fedor is a monster, and would man handle Randy if they ever fought.

Ok I’m a die hard Couture fan but i think Fedor would dominate. That was impressive! wow! dissapointing that both main events combined lasted just over a minute!

Arlovski did look great last night, before the fight I saw a preview of the Rothwell/Arlovski fight & Rothwell was suggesting that the winners of their respective fights would meet next
Fedor proved all the naysayers wrong and made them look stupid. Especially Dana White, who is a presumptuous asshole, and has claimed Fedor a farse. Fedor is obviously not underated and I am looking forward to Fedor vs. Couture. After watching his incredible performance against Silvia, it looks like he will do very well against Couture. His hand speed is impressive and everyone knows how great his submissions are. Couture will have all he can handle.
Couture would only beat Fedor in a cage. He would destroy him with his clinch. But if they fought in a ring Fedor would own Couture
The affliction guys have been talking about a Sylvia and Rothwell fight in September for some time. Maybe we can see Fedor and Arlovski or the same card. That could a good New Years card. Obviously, they would need some more talent to go with it, but Affliction is the closest thing to a real MMA org that we’ve seen other than the UFC in, well ever, since Pride.

Funny to hear all the promotions that are trying to top the UFC constantly name drop it and take little jabs at it during their broadcasts. If you’re so confident in your own product then let it stand for itself. At the end of the day, the fights and fighters are what will make or break your promotion.
arlovski looked great, and even though he kind of slipped in his performances before this fight he still has to be a top 5 fighter in terms of popularity.
Affliction PPV was worth the money, but the broadcasting crew and production value was poor. I would like to see a different weight class for the WAMMA title belt up at every promotion. Affliction should co-promote every event, to prove the WAMMA belts are an independent body. I’d also like to see the WAMMA belts appear on Strikeforce, Elite XC, etc. Maybe have a Grand Prix, and invite all promotions, including UFC, just like the old PRIDE days. I’m sure Dana would not want any part of it.

NO NO NO my English brother. I would eat AIDs infested elephant bacon from Ethiopia before paying for Affliction last night or in the future. My friend was insistant on ordering it to repay me for all the UFC events I have ordered and invited him to watch at my place. I gave him my reasoning why I think he should not purchase Affliction but he decided otherwise leaving me no choice but to endure Affliction’s wrath. I would never sell out. That’s just like bein a rat bastard with no heart. Besides, I was kind of thinking, how could I come here and discuss the event with any bit of knowledge had I not watched. Affliction needs to go to a cage though. Too many stops and screw ups with guys in between the ropes. After sleeping on it, Affliction was decent but there is still something very “dead end” about it. I understand Affliction’s monopoly on HW talent is good for them but as a fight fan I’d like more variety. I do believe Fedor is the best HW in the world I just don’t feel he deserves a belt for beating Sylvia. I want to see Fedor vs Arlovski….That I may sell out for and purchase. Fedor would win rd 1 by KO.
Is there anyone who actually thinks that Fedor defeating Tim sylvia makes him the best in the world. Not even close, Dont Get me wrong right now in the heavywieght class he is the best in the world, as someone said until proven otherwise. But hypeing this fight up to be such a great card is awefull. Tim Sylvia always has been terrible, he was terrible even when he wore the UFC belt. Lack of competition in your organization doesnt make you the best in the world. Until we see Fedor and Randy we wont know. Sorry if I hurt your feelings but Tim was a terrible fighter, Who got lucky to be in the right place and hit the right shot. Anyone who knows fighting knows that anyone can win at anytime if the shot is right, However even trying to compare Fedor with Tim is an embarressment. We as fans need to push for the real test Fedor and Randy to finally put this to rest.

KOuch you are right about Fedor beating Tim, doesn’t make him the best of the world. But Fedor has fought and will fight anybody. Randy will have his hands full. I don’t believe by paying for a MMA event by anyone but UFC, makes you a sell-out. It makes you open-minded. Imagine all the champs form all the organizations in a Grand Prix to see who the best is in each weight class. Whoever wins, hold the belt and takes it to their organization. One year later, they do it again. Imagine the bragging rights. Dana’s fighter’s will probably win them all, but he doesn’t care about MMA and the fighters, he just cares about the UFC.

Pissed that I missed this and watched the UFC event instead. Came down to money.

Many interesting comments here about Affliction. I would have to agree 100% with JustJoe: They absolutely need a cage - the ring just does not work in the sport of MMA. The commentators sucked! the sound and camera work was horrible. At one point they showed a comentator getting makeup applied - so unproffesional! In in all, I was expecting a 10/10 fight night for affliction and it really delivered about a 6/10. Also, the band thing did not work! not everybody is into heavy metal music! it was their first event therefore can not be too harsh. However, they need to get their **** together if they want people to spend another $39.99. I would pay the amount again to watch another event but would not pay for another event after that unless they get it right. UFC is still the leader in MMA by a mile!
