UFC president Dana White surprised a lot of people last night by announcing that UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will face off with with the winner of next month’s Cat Zingano vs. Miesha Tate fight. While that part was not a surprise, White announced that they will also serve as coaches for The Ultimate Fighter 18.
TUF 18 will also make history as the show will not only feature men’s bantamweight fighters, but women’s bantamweights also living in The Ultimate Fighter house. Tryout information is expected to be announced soon, with the actual tryouts on April 15. The show will air later this year but as of this post it is unclear whether the show will remain on FX.

I like the idea of having Rousey as a coach, and the men and women’s bantamweight divisions are in need of fresh talent. Still I can’t quite picture men and women living in the tuf house together, things could get dicey.
Wonder how many come out preggers lol
I think Dana is hot for Ronda…….. he gets that look when he is with her .
Think it’s great to feature the ladies and look forward to who makes it through the tryouts. Don’t think they should mix a season with guys and girls though. If the focus is on the ladies it should be an all lady season. Definitely will be interesting to see how this season turns out though.
As long as it does not turn into the Real World I am fine with this. I feel that Dana is only doing this to help the ratings and future of TUF. Hopefully it goes well.
Why else would they choose coaches?
And, in all honesty, if you’re going to try to build a division in women’s MMA, TUF is as good a way as any…
Just a little bummed Sarah Kaufman couldn’t play a part in this momentus occasion. Pretty sure she will play a big part in the UFC before too long.
