Ellenberger Crushes Marquardt
Jake Ellenberger landed a massive victory over Nate Marquardt tonight in Montreal. The two fighters went to war in the Octagon tonight but Ellenberger’s hooks were the downfall of the former Strikeforce champion. The “Juggernaught” has won two straight since his surprise loss to Martin Kampmann last year and will look to jump up the welterweight ladder after tonight’s win..
Camozzi Edges Ring
Chris Camozzi pulled off a tough split decision victory over The Ultimate Fighter 11 teammate Nick Ring in the fighter’s home nation. Ring fought an awkward version of what Lyoto Machida often employs, the difference being the lack of power in the fighter’s punches. Camozzi kept pressing the action however, and did enough to sway the judges in his favor.
Ricci Defeats Fletcher
It was not the most exciting fight but The Ultimate Fighter 16 runner-up, Mike Ricci, bested The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes runner-up, Colin Fletcher. Ricci showed solid all-round skills as he defeated “The Freak Show” to net his first official UFC victory. Fletcher tried to be flashy during the fight but displayed little power in his showdown with Ricci.
