UFC 158 – Dana White Will “Probably” Cut Nick Diaz If He Tests Positive Again

UFC 143: Diaz v Condit - Press ConferenceAnother UFC 158 related press event, another day where all eyes are on Nick Diaz.

During one of his greatest performances to date at the press conference, which he attended to the “surprise” of many, the topic of “The Kid From Stockton’s” marijuana use was broached. The Cesar Gracie product has famously tested positive for medicinal marijuana on two occasions. His most recent failed result came in his UFC 143 bout against Carlos Condit.

While Diaz is now in the title bout with Georges St-Pierre, he is far from secure even if he does win. According to UFC President Dana White, the UFC will probably cut him. While the former Strikeforce champion said it shouldn’t be an issue this time, as he “did a little more” this time to not test positive, he will continue to be a magnet for attention after the bout.

But keep the guys who are really cheating with test? Doesn’t seem right.

  • Big Hurt says:

I believe the fight with condit and the positive test was at UFC 143

Nick talked about how he wishes he had GSP’s money and could enjoy being pampered too but doesn’t want to make a couple of sacrifices for a couple of years that would give him the money he wants. The guy is his own worst enemy and it’s hard for me to understand…it’s all in front of him to take if he wants…no sympathy from me.

This guy is losing it, is contradictory and paranoid

“I believe that he is on plenty of steroids and I don’t think they test around here either,” Diaz said. “I doubt I’ll be tested as well. I don’t care what they’re saying or marketing to the media. I don’t think either of us will be tested. And if so, he’s probably got a bottle of piss in his pocket.

“I doubt they’re standing over him and making sure he’s not on steroids.”

When asked if the UFC could be complicit in St-Pierre taking steroids, Diaz strongly agreed and insinuated that they were corrupt.

“The sport is geared towards that guy winning,” Diaz said. “Sure, why not? Lance Armstrong was. He was on steroids. It was a really ridiculous thing that he was on steroids.”

At the same time, Diaz refused to guarantee that he would pass a drug screening this weekend in Montreal.

This is Diaz making excuses. GSP has never tested positive for steroids. He’ll lose the title fight then probably drop a couple more then get cut again. Or just fail another drug test again. Diaz aint good enough for UFC!

big baby.. he is gonna get his butt kicked so he has to come up with something beforehand…

Diaz is good enough for the UFC but not a champion imo

  • mikewh says:

I just don’t understand why he would say negative things about the UFC, seems like career suicide to me. I wouldn’t think they are too pleased with him.

This is just Diaz being Diaz….don’t get a migraine trying to figure this useful idiot out…smdh.

  • Cesar says:

Sorry but I thought the press conference was brilliant, there’s something that I respect about someone who is prepared to stand up to a powerful organisation and say what he feels, Dana white doesn’t hold back when someone crosses him. And also I’ve never seen GSP so wound up in all my life, I think Diaz has been very clever saying how wrestling someone down and throwing elbows isn’t MMA and with GSP being so emotional this may throw him off his game plan and into Diaz’s world.

Yeah, good luck trying to get some of these guys to realize that.

They like to assume Nick is “too dumb” to play the mental chess game successfully, yet he’s accomplished it time and time again.

They’ll point to Penn and Koscheck as examples of fighters who have tried to get at Georges before, but there is really no comparison to how GSP has been reacting this past week in response to Diaz’s antagonizing. It will be interesting to see what goes down once those cage doors close. Obviously Georges is mentally tough, no doubt, but you have to wonder how deep Nick has the hooks in right now. I’m hoping for a great fight.
