An important bout in the featherweight division is set as Ricardo Lamas will face Chan Sung Jung at UFC 162. The winner of July’s bout will likely find themselves fighting for the featherweight title. The long rumored bout was announced by the UFC late Wednesday evening.
The bout will see a face off of fighters who previously earned a title shot only to lose it soon after. Chan Sung Jung earned his shot at the title by defeating Dustin Poirier in one of the best fights of 2012 at UFC on FUEL TV 3. The Korean fighter’s subsequent shoulder issues have kept him out of action since the bout.
Ricardo Lamas was last in action at UFC on Fox 6, where he destroyed Erik Koch with brutal ground-and-pound in the second round. While originally promised a title shot, Lamas was passed over in favor of Anthony Pettis following UFC 156.
UFC 162 takes place July 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will be headlined by a UFC middleweight title fight as champion Anderson Silva takes on Chris Weidman. A co-headliner has yet to be announced for the card.
UFC 162 Fight Card:
- UFC Middleweight Title Fight: Anderson Silva (c) vs. Chris Weidman
- Ricardo Lamas vs. Chan Sung Sung
- Tim Boetsch vs. Mark Munoz
- Roger Gracie vs. Tim Kennedy
- Andrew Craig vs. Chris Leben

Co-main event worthy? I think the they should shell out one more marquee matchup for this Independence Day card.
It’s not the co-main according to what I’ve been told, they’re looking to add another bout in that slot.
Welcome back Zombie.
Why even have them fight,Dana will just pass them up for a title shot again anyways.
I’m curious to see how TKZ performs after being out for so long. This should be an exciting bout, and (knock on wood) the winner should definatly get the title shot.
