As the UFC gears up to return to Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil for UFC on FX 8, on May 18, a pair of bouts have been added to the bill that will see lightweights Mike Rio and Francisco Trinaldo meet, while Fabio Maldonado makes his return against Roger Hollett in the light heavyweight division.
Rio (9-1) made his post TUF:Live debut at the TUF 16 Finale in December, submitting John Cofer. Francisco “Massaranduba” (12-2) currently rides a 2-1 run inside the octagon. The TUF:Brazil veteran has taken stoppage victories over C.J. Keith and Delson Heleno during his promotional tenure.
Maldonado (18-6) is on a three-fight skid. The Team Nogueira fighter most recently lost in a routing to Glover Texeira. Hollett (13-4) dropped his UFC debut to Matt Hamill in September. Both light heavyweights are looking to redeem themselves and keep their space on the UFC roster.
