UFC 161: Soa Palelei vs. Stipe Miocic Set For Canada

Stipe MiocicA heavyweight matchup between the newly re-signed Soa Palelei and Stipe Miocic has been set for Winnipeg, Canada. It is currently unclear where the bout will land on the event’s lineup. Australian MMA website MMA Kanvas first reported the pairing with the UFC confirming the news Tuesday afternoon.

Miocic will be looking to bounce back from his first career loss this past fall to Stefan Struve. Miocic had won all three of his UFC bouts prior to the Struve loss and will look to get back on track against the Australian fighter.

Soa Palelei will be making his second Octagon appearance when the UFC heads to Winnipeg this June. Palelei is currently riding an eight-fight win-streak into his first UFC bout since his UFC 79 loss to Eddie Sanchez.

UFC 161 takes place June 15 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. No official headliner has been named for the card as of this post but the lineup is currently anchored by a pair of light heavyweight battles pitting Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua 2.
