Despite being on the losing-end of a frustrating unanimous decision loss at UFC 157, Lavar Johnson will remain with the promotion for the time being. Johnson tweeted the news overnight.
Johnson was a prime candidate to be cut after losing his second straight UFC fight to Brendan Schaub this past Saturday in Anaheim. Heavyweight is one of the thinnest rosters in the UFC and, along with Johnson’s propensity to finish fights violently, that probably was a large part of why the fighter was kept.
The Strikeforce import is 2-2 in the UFC, but is 2-4 in his last six fights. Johnson will be fighting with his back to wall in his next fight, which has not been announced at this time.
