The infamous injury epidemic has returned once again, this time claiming Rory MacDonald as its victim, forcing him out of his UFC 158 rematch with Carlos Condit.
MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani first broke the news.
MacDonald (14-1) most recently put a three-round thumping on former champion B.J. Penn at UFC on Fox 5 in December. After having his hand raised, he immediately called out the one man who holds a victory over him, Carlos Condit (28-6), who had just dropped his interim welterweight title to MacDonald’s teammate Georges St-Pierre. The Canadian didn’t have to wait long to get his wish as UFC president Dana White made it official just four days later.
Unfortunately for “Aries” he will not be able to go to war with Condit at the Bell Centre in Montreal on March 16. The Tristar MMA product’s vendetta will now be put on the back burner as reports have surfaced that he has suffered an undisclosed injury in training, keeping him out of the bout with the man he hopes to “embarrass”.

Well this sucks! Who gets the call now? I think they should leave the Hendricks vs Ellenberger fight alone, I like that matchup and would prefer neither gets pulled to face Condit.
Maia? After dominating Fitch Condit would certainly make sense to me at this point.
The last SF ww champ Saffiedine?
Maybe Condit could have a rematch with Kampmann, Condit lost a split decision back in 2009. Condit would probably like to redeem that loss, and Kampmann is always ready for a fight.
hopefully Rory is not injured too seriously and can make a full and fast recovery. that’s too bad that was going to be classic.
Personally I’d like to see Hendricks-Maia Ellenberger-Condit. That’s of course if Maia is feeling good and is up for it which if he is healthy am sure he would be. Maia Condit would be a good fight too. Woodley is close too I just think Maia is a little closer.
Will be following this closely for sure.
Extremely disappointed at this news…i hate the injuries!
