Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos is headed to Invicta Fighting Championship for the next stage of her career. The former Strikeforce featherweight champion’s manager, Tito Ortiz, announced the move at a press conference in Huntington Beach, California.
For Santos’s Invicta debut, the fighter will face fellow Brazilian Ediane Gomes at Invicta FC 5 on April 5 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Gomes was originally set to face Julia Budd in a title eliminator at featherweight. Budd is currently still set to remain on the card against newcomer Fiona Muxlow.
The fourteen-fight Invicta FC 5 bill features two title fights on what will likely be an online PPV. The card will be headlined by Invicta atomweight champion Jessica Penne defending her title against “The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson. The card will take place at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri.
[UPDATED 2/15] Article was updated to reflect Budd’s new opponent.
