Huge news in the MMA world as it appears that a lawsuit brought by the UFC will lead to the sport being allowed in the Empire State. The UFC had brought a lawsuit against the state looking for the legalization of MMA and today a judge ruled that the matter should be settled out of court after both sides agreed that a loophole could be used to allow for third-party sanctioning in the state.
Rebellion MMA’s Managing Editor Jim Genia will have more on the story tonight as MMA in New York has seen a major breakthrough today in the courts.
Tweeted Genia:
BREAKING: In 2 weeks the UFC will likely be able to hold events in NY. Judge in Zuffa vs. NYS case pushing parties to settle.

FINALLY!!!!
another loss for unions!!
FINALLY! the system does work. This is way overdue and it is ridiculous that it has taken this long, but finally it has happended.
We are assuming they won’t close the loophole, aren’t we?
@factman would be not be able to do that this year since the WKA has already booked 13 kickboxing fights in New York. UFC is planning to wait out the legislative period this summer to see if the legislation passes and if it doesn’t, they’ll be trying to work with the WKA or another organization approved in NY. Either way, they’re looking at November.
Sounds suspiciously like co-promoting. Someone call M-1 Global.
In this case, the benefit would outweigh the costs. The WKA is more a sanctioning body rather than a promotion.
Bout time
Jones vs Anderson….Madison Square Garden…Who wants to see this???
As a new yorker my hand is raised
I agree, what a huge venue that would be,but to be honest,I thought it would be huge here in Boston and it hasnt done hardly anything, but the Silva VS. Jones fight,WOW!!!
Or,St Pierre VS. Siva too…
my shekels would go on jones ! i see him as tougher more agressive and willung to mix it up. anderson has more to lose.
I would say Silva vs. Weidman (long islnder)
and the retirement match for Matt Serra (long islander)
Jon Jones is a New Yorker also!
