Good news for fans of Japanese MMA, as it appears DREAM continues their return, this time without Glory on the bill. Masaki Hasegawa, Shinya Aoki’s manager, recently stated on his KoubudoTV show that the promotion has booked the Saitama Super Arena, the longtime home of Japanese MMA, for May. According to the report, the organization intends to put together a pure MMA show.
FEG President Sadaharu Tanikawa officially declared the bankruptcy in May of last year, ceasing operations, and ostensibly putting DREAM to rest. Kickboxing promotion Glory would then step in and partner with the organization to put on the traditional New Year’s Eve event. Details remain blurry, and while the event is slated to feature MMA alone, whether or not Glory still has stake in the show remains to be seen.
