Bryan Baker Replaces Brent Weedman In Bellator Welterweight Tournament

Bryan Baker“The Beast” is back as Bryan Baker joins the season eight iteration of the Bellator Welterweight Tournament, filling in for Brent Weedman, who advanced to the semifinals by defeating Marius Zaromskis but was forced to withdraw due to injury.

Baker (18-4) enters the bracket in the semifinals, where he meets former title challenger Douglas Lima. The winner of that bout will go on to face the winner of the Ben Saunders vs. Raul Amaya fight.

To date, “The Beast” has competed in three Bellator tournaments, most recently making it to the finals of the 2012 Summer Series, where he fell short against Karl Amoussou.

“You never like to see anyone suffer an injury, especially a quarterfinal winner, but when we learned of Brent’s injury, Bryan was the first guy we had in mind, and like a true professional he jumped at the opportunity,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney.

Bellator 90 takes place on February 21 at Utah’s Maverik Center.
