A lightweight battle has been set between veteran UFC lightweight Jim Miller and former Strikeforce stalwart Pat Healy. No official word on where the bout will land on the April card, however it is likely that it will end up on the PPV portion of the card. UFC officials announced the move via twitter.
New Jersey’s own Jim Miller is coming off a victorious “Fight of the Year” contender with Joe Lauzon. Miller dominated Lauzon early on in their bloody UFC 155 battle before Lauzon started putting together some offense of his own in the second and third rounds. The bout was Miller’s first since a loss to Nate Diaz at UFC on Fox 3, also in New Jersey.
Pat “Bam Bam” Healy is finally being rewarded for his winning ways with Strikeforce. Healy notched his sixth straight victory a few weeks ago against a surprisingly game Kurt Holobaugh. Healy was twice set to face former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez before the same shoulder issue forced Melendez out of the bout not once but twice.
UFC 159 is set for Newark, New Jersey. The card will be headlined by a matchup of The Ultimate Fighter 17 coaches, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen. The card will take place April 27 and tickets went on sale last week.
