Bellator MMA’s February 7 Offering Gets Middleweight Title Bout and Featherweight Tournament

image001-5Bellator is offering another stacked card as the promotion invades the Gwinnett Center Event in Georgia on February 7. The vacant Bellator Middleweight Championship will find a new waist to to adorn as Alexander Shlemenko meets Maiquel Falcao in the evening’s main event, while the season eight featherweight tournament takes place down the bill.

Shlemenko (46-7), a former title challenger, is on a nine-fight run. The Russian mixed martial artist last competed in the Bellator cage in November of 2011, taking a unanimous decision victory over Vitor Vianna to win the season 5 iteration of the tournament.

Falcao (31-4) is on a four-fight win-streak. The Brazilian was crowned Bellator Season 6 Tournament Champion after taking victories over Norman Paraisy, Vyacheslav Vasilevsky, and Andreas Spang.

The featherweight tournament quarterfinals will pit Marlon Sandro vs. Akop Stepanyan, “Popo” Bezerra vs. “Junior PQD” Da Silva, Fabricio Guerrerio vs. Magomedrasul Khasbulaev, and Mike Richman vs. Rich Jackson.
