Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Muhammed Lawal made his Bellator debut at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma in the evening’s co-main attraction. “King Mo” literally made the most of his debut as he knocked out Przemyslaw Mysiala in the first round of their light heavyweight quarterfinal bout.
Lawal, spent much of his inactive period working on his striking. The time spent with the world-class kickboxers at Mike’s Gym and sessions with legendary boxing trainer Jeff Mayweather showed in the cage.
From the opening bell, the NCAA champion showed that he had no interest in doing anything other than striking. “King Mo” spent the duration of the bout using his signature “Cuban” style to pick apart the Polish fighter. Mo was using his time in the cage to practice his new skills. It was apparent that Mysiala had nothing in return. Misiek would wing a wild overhand, only to eat a slick one-two from the “King.” It was the short right in the combination that left him looking up at the lights, prompting Kerry Hatley to end the bout in just 3:52.
