An injury to Justin Edwards has led the UFC to bring back Jorge Santiago to face the talented Gunnar Nelson. The bout is currently scheduled to take place on the FUEL TV main card. UFC officials announced the move earlier today.
This will be Jorge Santiago’s third stint with the organization. Santiago was cut from the UFC after back-to-back losses to Brian Stann and Demian Maia. Santiago has since win two straight bouts for Titan FC. The former Sengoku middleweight champion has not fought at welterweight since 2005.
Gunnar Nelson has won ten straight fights since beginning his career with a split draw. The talented welterweight has finished each of his last ten, with all but one coming in the first round. Nelson destroyed late-replacement Demarques Johnson at his UFC debut on UFC on FUEL TV 5.
UFC on FUEL TV 7 will be headlined by UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barão taking on Michael McDonald. The card will be co-headlined by the bout between Dustin Poirier and Cub Swanson. The billing will take February 16 in at the historic Wembley Arena in London, England.
