With the UFC’s seventh FX offering having taken place in the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, some of the evening’s key players found themselves $50,000 richer at the evening’s end. Vitor Belfort, Ildemar Alcantara, C.B. Dollaway and Daniel Sarafian all took home bonuses for their performances.
Belfort knocked out potential middleweight title challenger Michael Bisping in the evening’s main event. The Brazilian connected with Cro Cop-esque left high kick that sent the Brit down, and finished him off with ground strikes at 2:37 of the second stanza, earning the “Knock Out of The Night” bonus.
Debuting Brazilian light heavyweight Ildemar Alcantara took his “Submission of The Night” check for a come-from-behind kneebar submission over Wagner Prado in the second round. After being repeatedly clocked in the opener, the newcomer took the fight to the mat and was able to work for a kneebar, forcing the tap at 2:39 of the middle period.
The evening’s de facto “Fight of The Night” was realistically the only truly competitive bout as C.B. Dollaway and Daniel Sarafian took home the honors. While the TUF: Brazil veteran started strong, the wrestler battled back to decisively win the second round. The final frame saw both men trade advantageous positions, but it was “The Doberman” that left the octagon with a split decision after the judges rendered 29-28, 29-28, 28-29 in his favor.
