The UFC is returning to Stockholm this April with hometown fighter Alexander Gustafsson in tow. Facing the top light heavyweight on his home turf will be Strikeforce import Gegard Mousasi. The UFC announced the pairing earlier today.
Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson was last in action at UFC on Fox 5, where defeated MMA legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. The hometown fighter has won six straight since his first career loss to fellow contender Phil Davis.
Facing the Swede will be Strikeforce import Gegard Mousasi. The elite striker last fought at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine, where he bludgeoned Mike Kyle before securing a rear-naked choke finish. Mousasi has a six fight unbeaten streak on the line when he faces Gustafsson.
The event will return to the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm on April 6, with tickets on sale February 9. Last year’s UFC: Sweden set attendance records for the arena after selling out in three hours. More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Is Alexander getting his shot after he wins this fight?
I would say there’s a good chance he gets a title shot IF he wins this fight. I think a lot of people, including yourself, will look past Mousasi in this fight, personally I don’t think a win is a foregone conclusion for ‘the mauler’.
Another great fight added to free TV (for those that have the station). Should be a great technical fight between to very intelligent fighters.
I’m not looking past gegard but right now jones looks like the only competition for him IMO
It was just your wording “after he wins this fight” that had me thinking that you were looking past him. As Bradski said this is a great technical matchup between 2 great strikers, Gus may even hold an advangtage in the standup but there’s no way he wants to go to the ground with Gegard.
F’n finally.
