Christian M’Pumbu Defends Bellator Light Heavyweight Title Against Attila Vegh on February 28

Bellator 80 somethingChristian M’Pumbu will be in action at New Mexico’s Santa Ana Star Center on February 28 as he defends his Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship against Attila Vegh.

The two were originally slated to meet at Bellator 84, but an injury to Vegh delayed the title bout.

The event will mark M’Pumbu’s (18-4) first defense of the light heavyweight crown. The Congolese fighter knocked out Rich Hale to take the belt in the Bellator Season 4 finals in May of 2011. M’pumbu would fight just once after being crowned champion, losing a unanimous decision to Travis Wiuff that October.

Vegh (25-7-2) is coming off of his run in the Bellator 2012 Summer Series. The tournament saw “Pumukli” submit  Zelg Glesic, outpoint Emamuel Newton, and notch a devastating first-round TKO over Travis Wiuff to earn his title shot.
