An injury to Justin Salas has forced a change in the UFC’s return to Brazil as UFC newcomer Lucas Martins will meet Edson Barboza. The bout will air on the evening’s undercard. MMAJunkie first reported the change, with UFC officials later confirming the news.
Martins is fresh off two December victories in Brazil prior to January’s bout. Barboza will be fighting for the first time since Jamie Varner derailed the prospect’s momentum at UFC 146.
The four-fight main card will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping. The bill will take place January 19. The trip to Brazil will mark the second straight year the UFC has kicked off their calendar in Brazil after UFC 142 last year.
