The time has come to look at what comes next for the evening’s headliners.

I think Overeem will get JDS win or lose. I think werdum will get Cain after he wins

    • Co Ro says:

I’m not so sure. I think Dana would see more money in a title fight between Velasquez and Overeem. Besides Werdum isn’t even fighting Noguiera until June so he wouldn’t be able to fight Cain until the end of 2013.

  • Big Hurt says:

I think more money is with JDS and Overeem. They both are going to go in and strike with each other and fans want that. With Werdum you have a to decide which has better control of grappling

    • Co Ro says:

I see your point, but still if Overeem wins against Big Foot he would obviously be the person to challenge Cain, I don’t think Cain will wait to fight Werdum for his first title def especially now that Overeem is back. It just makes more sense to just have Cain vs Overeem (assuming he does beat Big Foot)

      • Mikemac says:

@Co Ro I agree overeem Cain is the bigger fight after Cain had his way with jds. Especially if the fight is the UFC’s first in Mexico. Didn’t reem already beat silva in sf?

When you say that fans want to see them go in and strike with each other, I hope you’re just speaking for yourself. Unless you’ve done some kind of specific poll and have the results to back it up, how do you know what the fans want?

  • MMAsNoFad says:

Cormier and Cain need to get over it and fight. This is a business and u put friendship aside when that is the case. By each other a beer afterward if u are that reticent to hurt one anothers feelings.

    • Newfie says:

I totally get what you’re saying, it’s my opinion as well that in a sport like this people should put friendship aside and compete to find out who’s best on a given night. But, Cormier said if Velasquez won he would move to lhw, and I for one am looking forward to it.

      • rockinjohnny2012 says:

Just a quick question…does anyone know of any boxers who have refused to fight each other because of a friendship?

      • Newfie says:

I can’t answer your question rockinjohnny2012, I stopped watching boxing years ago. But I do try and keep an open mind when thinking about friends fighting. While I believe in certain situations, like title or title eliminator bouts friendship should be put aside, I can understand why guys don’t want to fight friends/training partners just because people want to see it.

the pic of Cain head kick is bad a$$.

  • Devin says:

Yeah that head kick pic is epic!

Of Cormier and Cain never fight that will be an absolute travesty. And soft and pathetic and a bunch of other things. For them to just flat out declare they would never fight means that in the back of Cain’s head he’s hoping he never loses obviously and is therefore basically going Cormier never gets a title fight. And on Cormier’s side that would mean he is secretly hoping that vain loses soon or he is basically accepting never getting title fight. I know that its very hard to keep a belt for a long time, and its not like this is blatantly what they are thinking but its what’s implied when they say they’ll never fight each other. Its a shame to cuz Cormier is the one Strikeforce champ who I think def deserves immediate title fight.

On that note the only other Strikeforce champ who prob deserves immediate title shot is Luke Rockhold. Can’t wait for him to get into the UFC!

Miller is gate keeper 1a and jlau 1b.

Belcher and Boestch would be great and would allow the better man to stay relevant. Costa and Okami would bee great. Costa had the wrestling background and td defense too be able to avoid viewers from watching a terribly boring fight when Okami lays on people to orgasm , i mean death. I’d much rather see Lombard fight Bisbing, who he called out, afterBisbing gets thrashed by Belfort. Or Lombard could fight Belfort, or welcome back Weidman.

No offense, but the average fan def wants to see striking. I do not have a poll, only empirical evidence like violence selling TV and movies, and the way fans in attendance boo when people are on the ground to long and cheer when they are cheering.

I think miller should welcome Melendez and show everyone that he is not really that great so we don’t have to waste a title fight with Bendo.
