Turns out the injury bug is not limited to fighters, the UFC’s regular pay-per-view play-by play announcer Mike Goldberg will not be on air tomorrow night after needing some time off. Filling in for Goldberg will be Jon Anik. UFC analyst Joe Rogan will still remain on the broadcast with Anik.
MMAJunkie first reported the switch.
Jon Anik has become one of the leading voices for the UFC over the past few years, handling the play-by-play duties for the UFC’s second team announcing crew and as the host of UFC’s Ultimate Insider.
UFC President Dana White offered an update MMAJunkie about the change earlier today.
Quick update to Anik-Goldberg story. Turns out Goldie is not ill but instead “taking time off.” @danawhite uncertain when he’ll return.

[UPDATE 18:19hrs] Article updated to reflect the update with Goldberg’s status

Hope Goldberg is alright, him and Rogan are such a great team, they work really well together. Thankfully Rogan will still be there, he is the best commentator in the business.
Sweet. Maybe we’ll get some real play-by-play this PPV!
This is the biggest news so far for UFC 155. I don’t wish Goldberg any ill health but I hope to hell I never hear him commentate again. The guy is the worst ever. So unnatural, so “turn off the volume when he’s speaking”, so (Sorry but he’s) dumb, so unknowledage, his voice has been trained in a broadcasting school and it is so contrived. Please Dana, never have Goldberg back. Anik is 1000% times better.
Well I don’t mind Mike but have to agree that his commentating is a bit generic, I knew it was a matter of time before anik got the shot. And I’m thinking it’s the beginning of the end
As long as rogan does the fighter interviews. Anik is awkward with these.
