After announcing their final card, Strikeforce revealed a change in their lineup as the UFC’s Ed Herman will come over to face Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza. While not officially announced, it is believed that “Jacaré’s” original opponent – Lorenz Larkin – has suffered a knee injury. Strikeforce confirmed the move earlier today.
Herman is on a four-fight unbeaten streak since suffering a brutal knee injury against Aaron Simpson at UFC 102. Herman’s loss to Jake Shields at UFC 150 was overturned after Shields failed a drug test. Herman had won three straight fights before the loss, finishing all three bouts.
The final January event will take place at the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The arena was the original site for “Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir” before the event was canceled prior to the November show. The card will be headlined by welterweight champion Nate Marquardt facing Tarec Saffiedine and Strikeforce Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier taking on Dion Staring.
