Hard-hitting Hawaiian Max Holloway will be stepping in on short notice to take on Leonard Garcia at UFC 155. Holloway replaces an injured Cody McKenzie against the Team Jackson product. UFC officials announced the move on Thursday.
The twenty-one year old fighter has bounced back strong since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 143, defeating Pat Schilling and Justin Lawrence with vicious and accurate boxing. The young prospect will look to close out the year with his third straight victory.
Leonard Garcia finds himself in a “must-win” situation, having dropped his last three fights since securing a controversial win in his UFC debut versus Nam Phan.
The UFC’s yearend fight card will take place December 29 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC 155 bill will be headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and former champion Cain Velasquez.
