Former UFC fighter Robbie Lawler is returning to the organization this February to face Josh Koscheck. The bout will take place at welterweight and will likely take place on the main card. The Orange County Register first reported the bout.
Lawler was 4-3 in his first run with the promotion, last fighting in the Octagon at UFC 50. Lawler will be returning to welterweight in an effort to revive his career after going 1-3 in his four fights with Strikeforce.
His opponent, Koscheck, has gone 2-1 in the Octagon since losing his rematch with UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 124. The NCAA D1 champion wrestler last fought at UFC on Fox 3, dropping a narrow split decision to top contender Johny Hendricks.
UFC 157 will be headlined by UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey facing Liz Carmouche. The bout will serve as the first UFC women’s fight. The bout is expected to co-headlined by a light heavyweight scrap between Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson. UFC 157 will take place February 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
