An explosive matchup between Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger has been added to a stacked UFC 158 card. The bout makes it the third high profile welterweight matchup to land in Montreal. The UFC announced the matchup on The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.
Johny Hendricks was supposed to be the number one contender after defeating Martin Kampmann but was shunned in favor of Diaz. While angry about being shelved, Hendricks can further state his case for a title shot if he can extend his winning streak to six against a fighter who fights very similar to him.
Jake Ellenberger avenged a pre-UFC loss to Jay Hieron in his last outing at UFC on FX 5. The win helped Ellenberger bounce back after a devastating loss to Martin Kampmann earlier this year.
UFC 158 is scheduled for March 18 and will likely take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The bout will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, with Rory MacDonald and Carlos Condit co-headlining the card.
