After making his long-awaited UFC debut against DaMarques Johnson in England at UFC on Fuel TV 5, Gunnar Nelson has been pegged for the promotion’s return to the UK as he will face TUF veteran Justin Edwards at the promotion’s seventh Fuel offering London’s Wembley Arena on February 16.
Nelson (10-0-1) is undefeated in his MMA career, having not seen the final bell since his MMA debut. After a nearly two-year hiatus, largely spent training under Renzo Gracie, the Icelandic grappling ace made his comeback, signing to the UFC in just his second return bout. Nelson needed less than one round to impress, taking an dominant submission victory over Johnson.
Edwards (8-2) is also coming off of an impressive submission victory of his own. True to his name, “Fast Eddy” needed just 45 seconds to strangle Josh Neer into unconsciousness at UFC on FX 5. While the Ohio native’s UFC record stands at 2-2, his losses have come in spirited performances, and his wins have been decisive. The Jorge Gurgel black belt will bring his signature guillotine to the cage to test the jiu jitsu of the highly touted prospect.
