The return of UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre brought a strong PPV effort back with him. UFC 154 notched around 680K-700K pay-per-view buys. PPV insider Dave Meltzer reported the news earlier today for MMAFighting.
While the number is lower than GSP’s previous PPV performances, the number is very impressive after an 18-month layoff. The number makes the card the third bestselling card of the year behind UFC 145 and UFC 148. The card also reportedly sold well in 300 movie theaters, with those numbers included in the final total.
UFC 154 featured an exciting main event between the champ and Carlos Condit in Montreal. The November PPV leaves one more PPV left in 2012, with the UFC needing a strong showing to avoid a decline in PPV buys for the second straight year.
