In what comes with an overwhelming “finally” from MMA fans, despite the unfortunate situation, Gegard Mousasi seems to finally be headed to the octagon as he recently revealed that he is currently in talks with the UFC.
“The Dreamcatcher” has only tasted defeat once since 2007, losing the Strikeforce light heavyweight championship to “King Mo” Lawal in 2010. While the Dutch-Armenian fighter is slated to meet Mike Kyle at Strikeforce’s final event in January, he already has his eye on his UFC debut, telling FCFighter.com that he would like to face former champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in his first promotional bout.
He’s the kind of guy who likes to fight. I like to fight guys like him who come to fight instead of fighting to win. … I know I can beat anybody.
Rua also has an upcoming bout with highly-touted prospect Alexander Gustafsson fast approaching, but a meeting between “Shogun” and Mousasi has long been discussed by many MMA fans, and it seems that the fight may finally become a reality.
