In somewhat of a surprise move, the UFC has brought back once-promising heavyweight prospect Todd Duffee to face Phil DeFries at UFC 155. Duffee last fought in the UFC at UFC 114, where he was on the wrong end of a dramatic comeback by Mike Russow. The UFC announced the matchup on the heels of Chris Weidman’s injury.
Duffee has gone 1-1 since leaving the promotion, taking an extended absence between a crushing loss to Alistair Overeem at DREAM ‘s Dynamite!! 2010 and a TKO over Neil Grove this past April in India.
DeFries was originally supposed to meet Matt Mitrione at UFC 155 but the bout was changed when Mitrione was tabbed to replace an injured Shane Carwin, opposite Roy Nelson, at the TUF 16 Finale.
The UFC’s yearend fight card will take place December 29 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC 155 bill will be headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and former champion Cain Velasquez.

Hopefully the time away has matured him, looking forward to his return
Nice!….Good luck Todd, hopefully he’s already in shape & has been training seriously since he won’t have time for a full camp…..Hope he puts on a good showing & can pick up the W
Finally. Been waiting for his return.
Am I the only one who remembers feeling dirty heading into the third round with Russow? Because it feels that way.
No, no you weren’t. It was how I felt sick watching Maldonado-Teixeira.
Next thing you know, you’re scratching your head and Mike Russow is all, “Hey everybody!” Then, tell an MMA fan at that point that the guy who literally threw a bitchslap at Andrei Arlovski went on to “Shogun” a dude that bodied one of the fastest KO winners in history… What a sport…
YES! so happy about this. Also no shame in losing to Overeem. He’s a monster under the boogie mans bed lol.
@Dan you’re right losing to Reemus nothing to hang your head about especially at that point in Duffee’s career, but another to consider in that fight is that Duffee tool that fight on like 10 days notice iirc…not that he necessarily would have won but at least the fight probably would have been more competitive & had at least made Reem break a sweat…..Anyways, I enjoy seeing the younger new faces come to rise just as much as enjoy the older legends still having success, & Duffee if he can stay healthy should have a legit chance to win pretty much any fight he’s in
