After UFC 154 in the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Dana White met with members of various media outlets to discuss some of the more pressing issues in the promotion today. The UFC President spoke on GSP vs. Silva, Ronda Rousey, and the dissolution of Strikeforce, among other things.- Dana on Condit sitting out until St-Pierre’s return: “With all the hoops Carlos Condit had to jump through, stepping aside for Nick Diaz and then coming back in to fight him instead, he deserved to do what he wanted.”
- Renan Barão is likely going to fight Michael McDonald.
- White doesn’t rule out GSP fighting again before facing Silva.
- Stephan Bonnar’s positive test was “disappointing”, Dana does not wish to speak to him as of the scrum. “The American Psycho” is planning on doing some pro-wrestling.
- TUF not confirmed for Wednesday just yet.
- The UFC President is disappointed in the way the Strikeforce deal unfolded, saying, ” I can talk about that for 4 hours, but I hate doing it.”
- There is no timetable for Ronda Rousey’s UFC debut.
- Alistair Overeem has been doing all the things he needs to do to get back on the commissions good graces.
- Cheick Kongo has turned down two fights in a row, once again turning down a fight with Roy Nelson when asked step in against him for Shane Carwin.
- Toronto, Dallas (Cowboys Stadium), and a soccer stadium in Brazil are all being looked at for Silva vs. St-Pierre in, which is being talked about for May.
- Nick Ring and Costa Philippou were paid their show money and will be re-booked.
- Alessio Sakara and Patrick Côté will rematch after the disqualification in their middleweight bout.
- Dana White has not spoken to Rich Franklin since the Cung Le lost, he tends to give fighters “about ten days” after they fight.
- The UFC president is still unsure if Mark Hominick will be back in the UFC. Despite four-straight losses, he’s always exciting and Dana is very fond of him personally.
- “Ronda Rousey gets media attention that even the UFC never got.”
- Invicta & Strikeforce partnership is up in the air.
- White not ruling out female coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, has yet to think of coaches for the eighteenth season.
- If Cyborg can’t make 135 lb., she won’t be in the UFC.
- Rousey will debut in the main event of a pay per-view card and has officially been crowned first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
- Dana White confirms that UFC events will no longer take place at the Palms because of a his personal issues with the casino.
