With the UFC returning to Brazil on January 19, for an as-of-yet named event which serves as their seventh Fuel TV offering, a featherweight bout between Diego Nunes and Nik Lentz has found a home on the bill.
Nunes (18-3) is coming off of a riveting “Fight of The Night” victory over Bart Palaszewski at UFC on FX 5 In October. In the bout, “The Gun” displayed a departure from his usual tactical approach, firing at his opponent with unbridled aggression. The former Nova Uniao product has fought 10 times under the Zuffa banner, with a 7-3 record spanning across the WEC and UFC. The Brazilian holds victories over former champion Mike Thomas Brown and former title challenger Manny Gamburyan.
Lentz (22-5) made his featherweight debut at UFC 150, posting a dominant first-round submission over Eiji Mitsuoka. The move came behind a no contest and two consecutive losses in the lightweight division. “The Carny” owns a 6-2-1 record inside the octagon, including victories over Tyson Griffin and Andre Winner.
While the location and main event have yet to be determined, the promotion’s return to Brazil finds itself card filling up rather quickly.
