An explosive matchup between lightweights Melvin Guillard and Jamie Varner has been set for The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale. The UFC did not announce where the bout would end up on the fight card’s lineup. The UFC announced the move via twitter.
Both fighters come into the bout off “Fight of the Night” losses in their last fights.
Guillard will be looking to get back on track in the midst of a 1-3 skid. “The Young Assassin” will also need to get back in the good graces of the promotion after missing weight prior to UFC 150.
Former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner saw his three-fight winning streak snapped by Joe Lauzon at UFC on Fox 4. The bout was the second-straight fight that Varner took on short notice since returning to the UFC.
Heavyweights, and TUF 16 coaches, Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson will headline the December 15 finale. The card will also feature the “TUF 16″ tournament final. The card will take place at “The Joint” at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

I know Dana hates when fighters miss weight but didn’t Melvin step up on short notice against cerrone?
The bout was created from scratch about a month out. Melvin had just fought at UFC 148 a few days prior when the bout was announced. Neither fighter had that long to prep.
Melvin at least had his rep to save him, UFC just cut two fighters for not being able to make weight on shorter notice.
This is the most important fight in Guillard’s career. He needs a decisive victory. I am really rooting for that brother…
I think guillard will win this with a finish.
