Although last week’s announcement of Chael Sonnen coaching The Ultimate FIghter and receiving a UFC title shot against UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones was met with great controversy, it has certainly drawn a plethora of media and fan attention alike. UFC President Dana White has no confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that the date for the title clash is now set for April 27, 2013, and while nothing is official, the promotion is aiming for a return to New Jersey.
“The finale will be at The Hard Rock (Las Vegas)… (TUF 17) premieres in January and then we’re talking right now – this isn’t etched in stone – but we’re talking about New Jersey for the Jones fight.”
Jones, a resident of Rochchester, New York. Has not competed in Jersey since becoming champion by demolishing Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in March of last year. The polarizing champion is sure to draw a lot of attention from across the river if he does in fact meet Sonnen in New Jersey.

The site is a no-brainer; indeed, The Meadowlands are a kiss away from NYC.
After a gigantic “F You” to the 205ers who turned down title shots on short notice and didn’t report their injuries in a timely fashion, Dana follows it up with a big “F You” to New York.
Say what you want about the guy, he’s not afraid to hold a grudge.
@factman Sorry dude, just a bit confused. Why the FU to New York. MMA is still against the law in my home state. The FU needs to go the the assemblymen who keep voting our favorite sport down.
As far as New Jersey goes, I was lucky enough to see Bones win the belt here, and I recommend public transportation. We FROZE waiting at the parking garage for 3 hours when the night was over! Or course, we were waiting with Cowboy Cerone, who was also stuck waiting for his car in the cold. AMAZING how little he is in real life.
