Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson has again taken to Twitter, this time in an effort to clarify a comment he made after hearing the news that former middleweight contender Chael Sonnen would challenge UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Henderson voiced his displeasure over the news and seemed to take a shot at his former teammate, something Henderson now says was not his intention.
And just to make it clear, I will always [have] love for Chael and don’t blame him for saying yes to a big opportunity. But giving him that fight [right] now degrades the sport of Mma.
Henderson is likely to face former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida according to UFC President Dana White but the bout is not set in stone. Machida has also voiced his displeasure at the move yesterday via the social media site.
Regardless of the complaints, filming of TUF 17 will begin shortly as coaches Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen will attempt to defeat the other’s team before they meet themselves in the Octagon this April.
