UFC newcomer and Icelandic grappling ace Gunnar Nelson managed to end two UFC careers in his sole promotional appearance. After news that DaMarques Johnson was cut following the loss to the Renzo Gracie student at UFC: Nottingham, matchmaker Joe Silva revealed that Rich Attonito also had his contract terminated.
According to Silva, when Pascal Krauss fell out of the bout due to a sparring-related injury, Rich Attonito was penciled into the bout. The ATT product accepted the bout. The very next day, the TUF veteran’s manager, Dan Lambert, called Silva the very next day and informed him that “The Raging Bull” would not be able to make 170 lb. on short notice, accepting a 175 lb. catchweight. Once again, the very next day, the Floridian informed SIlva that he would be unable to make that mark, subsequently being pulled from the bout and released from his contract.
