wow i didnt realize how many big female fighters were on board with Invicta.. i do believe Invicta should talk to the UFC about doing some co-promoting, because Invicta has signed just about every good womens fighters there are.. the only names outside the Zuffa and Invicta promotions are Felice Herrig and Marloes Coenen.. great to see that the women have a place to call home.. looked like a pretty great card from what i see
they’re more likely to keep doing what they doing, which is letting Strikeforce fighters keep fighting in Invicta. Knapp is a former UFC and Strikeforce exec, so she has a good relationship with Zuffa. Their overseas partnerships would likely prevent any sort of co-promotional effort for now.Oh and Coenen has fought with Invicta before, headlined Invicta FC 1, so she’ll likely be back. Herrig signed a deal with XFC, so she’ll remain there for the time being.
Was looking forward to seeing the card, but at the last minute an old friend from out of town called, so we hung out instead. If it was anything like Invicta 2, I’m sure it was awesome.
To Russo’s point, I for one DON’T want to see this fantastic promotion involved with Zuffa in any way. Though there would be inherent financial advantages, if it were to get as far as a takeover, women’s MMA would be relegated for the most part to second-class status. And if Dana White’s involved, he’s not letting fighters perform anywhere else but for Zuffa. Here, everyone can shine and get the most opportunities to fight and showcase the skill.
I believe if Invicta continues to be shrewd, put good cards together and maintains a healthy live gate in KC, the only way is up.
As I said above, they already have agreements with Zuffa
