Charlie Brenneman Released by the UFC

Welterweight Charlie Brenneman has been released by the UFC following his UFC 152 loss to Kyle Noke. Brenneman was 1-3 in his last four fights in the promotion after a 3-1 start. Brenneman tweeted the news earlier today but remained upbeat that he would return.

Tweeted Brenneman:

“Im gone but not forgotten. Ill be bak soon! Thx @ufc @danawhite for the opportunities, and especially to all my loyal fans!!! C u all soon!” [sic]

Brenneman lost to Kyle Noke in somewhat controversial fashion, as the Pennsylvania-native was clearly stunned and dropped by the Australian. The referee dove in to stop the fight at the same moment that Brenneman appeared to regain his senses and try for a takedown. While somewhat controversial, the referee’s actions were clearly understandable.

Brenneman will look to rebound quickly and get back to the UFC through the regional circuit now.

Damn, I became a fan after watching him in person in Pittsburgh. Ufc gave him higher caliber fighters to fast and kinda ruined his chances. He shoulda faught amir or riddle to see where he stood. Hope to see him back.

He will be back, I feel good about it. The promotion will always need talent at 170. Now’s the time to take what has been learned, apply it to your skill set and put a streak together in the regionals…
