A welterweight tilt between Mike Pyle and James head has ostensibly been tabbed for The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale. Pyle broke the news via his official twitter account, tweeting “I’ll be fighting James Head in Vegas Dec. 15!”
Pyle (23-8-1) is coming off of the devastating knockout of Josh Neer at UFC on FX 3 in June. A thirteen-year veteran of the sport, the Xtreme Couture fighter seems to have hit his stride of late, putting together a 5-1 run inside the octagon, with the sole loss in that time coming at the hands of surging prospect Rory MacDonald. “Quicksand’s” most recent run has seen him take wins over the likes of Ricardo Funch, Ricardo Almeida, and John Hathaway.
While a debut loss to Nick Ring prompted the move down to welterweight, Head (9-2) is undefeated since dropping to 170 pounds, submitting Papy Abedi in April and derailing the rising career of Brian Ebersole at UFC 149.

Big fan of Mike Pyle (Chris, he’s who I meant in that whole Mike Brown mix up, so I was all confused myself haha). He’s so solid, confident, and backs it up. Not super excited he isn’t getting a better opponent, but head is game so it should be good.
