It was a night of tough action from start to finish at UFC 152 in Toronto, Ontario. That left UFC President Dana White the hard job of handing out bonuses to the night’s top performers. In the end, Cub Swanson earned “KO of the Night,” UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones earned “Submission of the Night,” with T.J. Grant and Evan Dunham combining for “Fight of the Night.” Each fighter earned a $65,000 bonus for their efforts tonight.
Cub Swanson earned “KO of the Night” for his impressive performance versus Charles Oliveira. His liver shot followed by an overhand right earned him a devastating knockout win but the knockout victory was given serious competition from Seth Baczynski’s devastating knockout of Simeon Thoresen on the undercard.
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones earned “Submission of the Night” for a textbook keylock attack from the mounted crucifix in the fourth round of his main event fight with Vitor Belfort. Jones’ submission likely earned the nod over an incredibly technical submission chain punctuated by an armbar from Vinny Magalhaes due to the fact that Jones performed the maneuver with an injured right arm.
T.J. Grant and Evan Dunham earned the “Fight of the Night” nod for their incredibly entertaining, and hard-hitting, scrap on the FX preliminary card. Neither fighter was happy with being bumped from the PPV main card but the $65,000 each fighter earned should help soothe their pain.
