When Stephan Bonnar got the call to face Anderson Silva at UFC 153, the TUF 1 finalist had already begun his retirement. Now the “American Psycho” is training with a renewed vigor in an effort to pull off a massive upset, or at least give a Chuck Wepner-like performance against one of the top fighters in MMA history. Bonnar stopped by “Inside MMA” to discuss his game plan with hosts Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten.

I can’t tell if that was Bonnar at the end or Mayhem Miller.
Wait, what did I miss here? Bonner’s fighting Silva?!
yup…
ehh.. i actually think he’ll last longer than Forrest did. For him and same for vitor being the underdog, they’ll better there chances if they start swinging quick into the fight and maybe stun them. the matt serra way.
He’s got the perfect attitude. Go American psycho.baby
i think he’ll look to get close – esp clinch , smother and tire.. not that that’s his best ability, but it’d be better than grappling or trading strikes
the ufc would like bonnar to grind out a loss, and have spider fight jones.
Oh the Ufc is more than banking on Bonnar losing. It’d be devastation if he won. I think he will look to put him on his back, per best practice.
Bonnar will get KO’d with a well timed counter strike if he comes out guns blazing. His best chance is to grind against the cage and hope that his chin holds up long enough to initiate a wild exchange. Then at least he would have a puncher’s chance. The other scenario that could play-out in Bonnar’s favor would be if Anderson doesn’t go for the kill and looks to put on a show – that could allow the opportunity for Bonnar’s will to surpass Anderson’s gas tank.
That being said, my comments are in reference to a .0001% chance of Bonnar having a shot. It’s like talking about what you would do with the money if you won the lottery – its find to dream, but its not going to happen.
i somehow feel like this matchup started out as a joke, then went horribly wrong due to a secretary’s typo or a bad interpreter.
