“Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir” Update: Mir off card with Injury

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir has been forced out of his November 3 meeting with Strikeforce Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier. The former champ has apparently suffered a knee injury that has forced him off the card. A replacement is currently being sought at this time.
News of the injury first broke via Sports Rage radio, with MMAJunkie later confirming the report.
The injury to Mir provides yet another hurdle for Cormier on his road to the UFC. The Oklahoma State wrestling standout is currently trying to fulfill his final bout on his current Strikeforce contract with the promotion folding the division after the final fight.
The November event will take place at the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The card is also set for a middleweight title fight between champion Luke Rockhold and Lorenz Larkin, as well as the debut of talented women’s bantamweight fighter Sara McMann.

Brock would be cool but he is busy with the WWE.
He’s not actually busy with the WWE. He’s completed almost all of his appearances in his current contract which Vince is trying to restructure. He’s back on legal WWE juice which is banned in MMA so it could be possible for him to fight, but not very likely. I’d give it a maybe 5% chance you see him. You probably have a better shot of Chuck Liddell coming out of retirement.
Should go grab Andrea Arlovski or Tim Silvia for old times sake. What’s the difference anyways, last Strikeforce event in Oregon drew nobody and there were what, 2 belts on the line plus at least 4 fights with some appeal if you’ve been watching MMA at all lately.

2012. The year of injuries for mma.
Very much so…I can’t believe how many main card and main event fights that have been scrapped or changed this year. From past experience this should just be a bad year, Zuffa went through something similar a few years ago where every card or 2 was plagued with injuries. Hopefully this trends stops really soon, some of these fights that get scrapped are ones I was really looking forward too.
Actually he is busy with the WWE. His contract was for 35 appearances before wrestlania and he has only had 11 appearances. So from November till April he has all those appearances with the WWE to do
That’s what I thought, though I think the chances of seeing Lesnar competing in mma again is a long shot.
Oh he is still busy with mens choreographed steroid acrobat dancing in a ring ;-)

If Brock returns it will NEVER be for a non PPV.
This sucks for cormier, that guy needs to be in the ufc. Just stick anyone in to fight him and end his SF obligation.
i like the idea of overeem vs cormier.. i like that…. but, doubt the UFC would have the ball.
they’d lose a contender or at least have one’s contendership set back.
plus they want strikeforce to suck.
they only buy out things to let them die a slow death.
they don’t want diversity they want monopoly.
umm… why would UFC want the strikeforce card to suck? You must watch too much MMA or follow too closely, cause UFC bought Strikeforce a long time ago champ…. Now Zuffa owns them both.
