A recent injury to Pascal Krauss, which allowed Rich Attonito to step in against Gunnar Nelson at UFC: Nottingham, has seen yet another shuffle occur as Attonito is now out of the bout and DaMarques Johnson finds himself in.
Reports claim that Attonito was worried about making the welterweight limit on such short notice, prompting him to pull out of the bout.
Johnson (15-11) is currently on a 1-3 run, coming off of a loss to Mike Swick at UFC on Fox 4. The TUF 9 veteran, who rarely finds himself in a dull bout, posted a dominant first round, but a knee tap and two coffin nails by the returning “Swick” put an end to his night.
Nelson (9-0-1) will be making his UFC debut, having only fought once since 2010. The Icelandic grappling ace took time off to improve his skills under Renzo Gracie, making his return to MMA in February and taking home a submission victory at 4:21 of the opening period. Nelson now makes his promotional debut at UFC on Fuel TV 5 at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham England on September 29.
