Bellator 75 is set for October 5 in Hammond, Indiana. The main card will be headlined by the Season 7 heavyweight tournament. The tournament gained more significance yesterday as heavyweight champion Cole Konrad retired from the sport. The participants in the tournament will be competing for a $100,000 tournament prize.

The tournament field will include last year’s default winner Eric Prindle taking on Thiago Santos. The field will also include former Strikeforce contender Brett Rogers, UFC veteran Vinicius Queiroz, rising prospect Mike Wessel, and former Bellator light heavyweight Richard Hale.

No word yet on whether the tournament will crown a new heavyweight champion after Konrad’s sudden retirement.
