It’s been six years since Paulo Filho and Murilo “Ninja” Rua first met in the PRIDE ring. Those were the days of the fabled Chute Boxe and Brazilian Top Team rivalry as both fighters stood as beacons of what was to come in the 185 lb. division. It’s safe to say those days are far behind us. Filho and “Ninja” met once again this weekend, under the radar of casual viewership as they did battle on the Brazilian regional circuit in the Best of The Best cage.
The outcome was radically different form the first time out, which saw “Ely” take a unanimous decision. Both men came out throwing heavy leather, but it was the shopworn “Ninja”, who was coming out of retirement, that would succumb to strikes, forcing referee Mario Yamasaki to step in and stop the bout in just 47 seconds.

rua LOOKS like he came outa retirement for this one…..
I’ve never met him so I don’t know for sure, but I’ve heard he’s very clearly brain damaged.
:(
The biggest news here is that someone flew Yamasaki down there to ref this.
haha
Real talk.
dang those are some of the widest punches I’ve ever seen more like clubs then punches, effective here nonetheless.
