The UFC is making their return to “the land of down under” on December 14 for their sixth offering on FX. UFC President Dana White confirmed the event via twitter today as well as named the main event for the evening as Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares will face off in a clash of the promotion’s most feared middleweights.
Lombard (31-3-1) is coming off of a controversial loss to Tim Boetsch at UFC 149 in his promotional debut. Prior to that, the former Bellator Middleweight Champion was on a 25-fight win-streak. The former Olympian makes his return to Australia where he spent much of his career, holding several regional titles such as the CFC and AFC middleweight crowns.
Palhares (14-4) is coming off a loss of his own after suffering a TKO loss at the hands of Alan Belcher at UFC on Fox 3. Prior to the defeat, “Toquinho” was on a three-fight win-streak which saw two him take home two heel hook submissions over the likes of Mike Massenzio and Dave Branch.

As exciting a fight as this may or may not be, 2 fighters both coming off losses should not be headlining a card!
This isn’t the first two guys coming off a lose is headlining a card. Guida and Maynard were both coming off a loss and headlined an fx card.
Not that coming off losses equals a bad fight by any means, but we also see how that one turned out though
