US Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann has signed with Strikeforce. The talented bantamweight has fought for Invicta FC and Elite XC. MMAJunkie reported the news earlier today.
Sara McMann is one of the most decorated women’s wrestlers in US history earning a silver medal in Athens, along with a silver and two bronze medals in three appearances at the FILA World Championships. The South Carolina native is 6-0 in her young MMA career, with her last victory coming at Invicta FC 2 in a “Fight of the Year” candidate with Shayna Bazler.
McMann made sure to thank Invicta FC CEO Shannon Knapp for giving her the opportunity to fight for Strikeforce via twitter.
Thank you @shanknapp and @InvictaFC for giving me the opportunity to fight in your great promotion that is making a difference in WMMA. I am excited about the opportunity that lies ahead in fighting in @StrikeForce with some great matchups for me. Thank you to all my sponsors @FearTheFighter @DiamondThieves1 @HAYABUSA_MMA @TussleFightGear @IronBridgeTools and others for your support!
The talented prospect could make her debut as early as “Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir” in November. No opponent has been discussed at this time.
